The company has also announced that the app will soon be launched globally under a new name, Demumu. As reported by Reuters, on Apple’s paid app chart, it is already listed with this name and is currently at number two, after briefly reaching the top earlier in the week.

The app was developed by a small independent team. After it went viral, the creators shared a message online. “Thanks to all netizens for their enthusiastic support. We were originally just an unknown small team, co-founded and operated independently by three born after 1995,” Sileme said, as reported by Reuters.
With the rise in downloads, the company also announced a paid model. An eight yuan fee was introduced to help manage increasing costs. The app is already listed as a paid download on Apple’s App Store.
